The Preservation Years - 2005

37324 & 37215 wait to depart from Cheltenham Race Course station - 9/4/0537324 started the year with a battery change which led to the loco starting better than at any time it has been at the GWR. This was a great help with operations.

A thorough check of all of the electrical machines was carried out, with repairs made as necessary. Most items were OK although both the traction motor blower motors required attention to their brush gear.

One electrical item that was problematic throughout the year was the automatic voltage regulator. The installed unit failed and we had a frustrating couple of weeks getting a replacement unit to work adequately.

During the course of the year, Clydebridge underwent a full brake block change and had a preliminary inspection of the steam heat generator carried out.
